Terry Pratchett <terrydiscworld>

Creator of THE HOGFATHER and Discworld novels, Terry Pratchett is one of the funniest and most popular authors writing today.

Terry sold his first short story at the tender age of 13 and bought a typewriter with the money. His first novel, THE CARPET PEOPLE, was published when he was 23. In 1983 THE COLOUR OF MAGIC, the first Discworld novel, was published and the rest, as they say, is history.

He lives behind a keyboard in Wiltshire and says he 'doesn't want to get a life, because it feels like he's trying to lead three already.' He is passionate about orangutans but doesn't give a monkey's about anything else.

He was awarded an OBE in 1998 and has sold more than 45 million books worldwide. His books have been translated into 27 languages.

Making Money, the new book from Terry Pratchett, is on sale from September 24th. Claim your 20% discount at www.rbooks.co.uk

  • Dearie dearie you I think Death will be scared of you Terry, you know more about him than he does about you. He's someone we all must meet, but I hope it's a long time before your ink stained and his bony hand are warily extended to shake in grudging admiration of jobs exceptionally well done by you both. Hi Terry!!

You are, quite simply, the best!!! Sam Vimes is my fave but i consider myself a Tiffany Aching.

I am seriously considering moving to England from New Zealand just so i can meet you!! If your ever in the neighborhood please pop in for a cuppa!

P.S please ignore my terrible grammar. Also reading your books is probably one of the reasons i failed year 13 english (hmmm that makes sense) but i forgive you.

"Give Terry Pratchett you luv for today"
My day is now complete haha.
I'm just about to start a short story and i am using you (Or Mr. Pratchett depending on if Terry actually reads this) as a 'style model'. My story is based on the young teenage version of Drum Billet, from the village of BAD ASS, who has been given the Staff of Power and is just about to enrol to the Unseen University. But unfortunatly for him, with great power comes great responsibility and he must over come evil.. and the problems of puberty.

I thought this was good for a short story myself.. I just wondered if i could get any advice or if you could you review it sometime.. just a thought.

    Thanks!

    Dear Mr.Pratchett,

I work at St.Luke's Science and Sports College in Exeter where, I am delighted to say, I am the Co-ordinator for Gifted and Talented Students. I feel this is an especially important role, as I firmly believe that the G&T register is something that every student should aspire to be on, in at least one subject.

I had the pleasure of hearing you speak in Canterbury in 1993 and as a (fairly) local school, I very much hope that you would consider being our guest speaker at our Gifted and Talented evening next summer .

Whilst we are not allowed to pay appearence fees, we can cover costs and make a donation to the charity of your choice (as well as raising their profile through assemblies) in addition to the sale of books on the evening.

If there is an alternative email/postal address, I would welcome the opportunity to provide some more details on what we hope to accomplish.

    My email is: mr.payne@st-lukes.devon.sch.uk

    My thanks for your time,

    Torsten Payne

This is a call out to all Irish, British and International fans of the Discworld!

In 2009 for the first time there is going to be an Irish International Discworld Convention.

And we're looking for you, and your friends, and your friends friends, to come, to tell others to come and to drag alone those who even have a passing interest in Terry Pratchett, The Discworld or fantasy books in general.

As well as that, we're looking for suggestions. Have you been to a Con before, what did you like about it? What did you not like? What did you think you could do better?

    Tell us!

And check out our page for more information!

Good morning Terry, even if you never read this it's still worthwhile to share with something how much you love the books =] Wanted to do some of your books at the college book club, but they reckon it won't look good on the UCAS form. Screw UCAS!
